What Is Life? My Journey to Self-Love and Acceptance

dragonflyblueinfo

When people ask me what life means to me, I often feel like they expect a grand, inspirational speech about seizing the day and living life to the fullest. The truth is, my life isn't always like that. I get angry, even with those I love. I procrastinate over the smallest of things. I get impatient, irritated, and complacent. I face all the emotions and experiences that come with being human.

I do believe that life is what we make of it, but it’s not always rainbows and sunshine. We all endure experiences that we wish never happened, those that leave a hole in our lives. However, these experiences, both the good and the bad, shape us into the people we become. Over the years, I have come to realize that the key to healing and growth is acknowledging these experiences, not hiding from them.

This realization wasn't easy. It took time, and it required me to confront memories and feelings that I preferred to forget. But when we forget, we don't heal. By understanding my emotional responses, I've been able to work through many attributes in myself—the ones I don't like and the ones I do. This journey has been transformative.

One of the proudest achievements in my life is embracing the concept of self-love. It's often frowned upon or misunderstood, as if it's selfish or arrogant. But I firmly believe that loving myself is the foundation for everything else. When I love myself, I set boundaries for what I will and won't accept from others. It doesn't mean I'm better than anyone else; it means I have a clear sense of my own worth and values.

And that's what life is to me—discovering who I am, what I stand for, and loving myself enough to live authentically. Not everyone is going to like me, and that's okay. The important thing is that I'm comfortable in my own skin and confident in the boundaries I've set. I don't need everyone to accept me; I just need to be true to myself and surround myself with those who appreciate that.

If you're still struggling to find your own path, if you're working through past experiences that have shaped you in ways you'd rather not be, I'm here to help. I offer a free 20-minute chat to discuss how Root-Cause Therapy could be the solution for you. This approach delves into the root causes of who we are and why we react the way we do, allowing us to release what no longer serves us and embrace a more positive, compassionate self.

By loving ourselves, we can honour others with the same level of respect and compassion. If you're interested in learning more, feel free to reach out to me at Dragonfly Blue. Together, we can explore what it means to heal and grow, so you can live a life that's true to you.

Thank you for reading my thoughts on life and self-love. I hope it resonates with you, and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Remember, the journey to self-discovery and healing is a personal one, and there's no right or wrong way to go about it. Just keep moving forward and know that you're not alone.

Blessings to you

Rach
